Babies have different skin care needs
than adults:
- Babies’ skin is pH neutral while adult skin
is more acidic and astringent.
- In newborns, the dermis (inner layer of the
skin) is 3 to 4 times thinner than in adults
and the epidermis (outer layer) is 20-30% thinner.
Baby’s skin will not reach maturity until approximately
3 years old.
- In babies and kids under 3 years old, the
hydrolipid film, which covers and protects the
skin, is finer.
- The cells that form the surface of baby’s
skin are less firmly connected than in adults.
In conclusion, baby and kids under 3 have fragile
skin which reacts more strongly to external variations,
more vulnerable to severe external factors, irritation
and infection.
Therefore, you should use products that are
tailored to the delicate and sensitive skin of
the babies, non-irritant and hypoallergenic, like
Swiss Kiss Lab products. |
